FUSO currently works with more than 300 renowned body manufacturers throughout Europe. Thanks to its variability with five tonnages and six different wheelbases, the Canter is suitable for almost all superstructures and can meet the requirements of almost any application and transport task. From the simple flatbed to the complex special vehicle.
The robust steel ladder frame of the chassis is designed as a C-profile, as on heavy trucks, and thus offers a particularly high load-bearing capacity. In addition, the frame is characterised by a detailed hole pattern, which is generally very convenient for body builders. Factory-fitted power take-offs for hydraulic pumps or compressors and the optional 24-volt interface round off the Canter’s body-friendly design.
Customers, in turn, benefit from uncomplicated handling thanks to the billing-in option that FUSO offers for its factory bodies. This billing model for built-up complete vehicles is also possible via selected bodybuilding partners, as well as in combination with certain pre-configured vehicles that the customer can purchase completely from FUSO.
The Canter’s exceptional body-friendliness naturally also applies to the all-electric eCanter, the alternative solution for locally emission-free transport.
Canter and eCanter with flatbed are a functional basis when it comes to transport tasks in the general cargo sector. A flatbed body can be transformed into a versatile all-rounder with additions such as railings, folding drop sides, frames for tarpaulins or drive-on ramps. The additional combination with a loading crane, for which the Canter is of course also suitable, enables independent loading and unloading. The Canter with platform in various versions is also available as a FUSO factory body.
With a tipper body, the Canter and eCanter are particularly suitable for transporting bulk goods and other loose loads. The three-sided tipping function allows easy unloading or dumping to the left, right or rear. A loading crane with grapple can be added if independent loading is required. The Canter with tipper in various versions is also available as a FUSO factory body.
As skip loaders, the Canter and eCanter with their compact dimensions are ideal for city use in the construction and waste disposal industry. Their steel frame provides a robust base for the hydraulic loading bridge body. With a skip body, the Canter is an efficient and flexible transport solution as it can travel independently while the skips simply stay where they are needed.
Similar to the skip loader, but even more flexible, the Canter and eCanter can be used as roll-off tippers to transport containers and all other suitable interchangeable bodies in addition to skips. The Canter can be equipped with various containers that are quickly and easily pulled onto the chassis and secured by means of a hydraulic hook lift. It is therefore not only suitable for the construction and waste disposal industry, but is also ideal for a wide range of inner-city transport tasks in municipalities or for fire brigades and disaster control.
With a box body, the Canter and eCanter are the transport solution for distribution transport in the city and in urban areas. Always compact and manoeuvrable, and made for all requirements at the same time thanks to different tonnages and wheelbases. As a Canter 3.5 T, it offers the longest body length in its segment, and the highest-volume versions of the Canter allow a maximum body length of 7,210 mm with a wheelbase of 4,750 mm – which means up to 15 full pallet parking spaces.
For units such as lifting platforms or refrigeration units, there are prepared interfaces on request, and all other superstructures on this basis, such as beverage containers, can also be realised on the Canter.
The eCanter is an explicitly tested and proven locally emission-free alternative, especially in urban distribution transport.
Equipped with a flatbed or as a tipper, the Canter already covers many transport tasks in municipalities. However, the body as a roll-off tipper makes it particularly variable in use.
In all variants, the Canter also offers the option of attaching front attachments. For example, it can be equipped as a snow plough for winter service via a municipal plate.
With high towing capacities, in a double cab version or as a Canter 4×4 with selectable all-wheel drive, it basically has everything that is required for specialised and demanding municipal applications.
For cleaning and waste disposal in limited traffic areas, for example in the old town, pedestrian zones or parks, an extremely compact yet powerful vehicle with options for driving special bodies is required. The Canter can be easily set up as a sweeper, refuse collector or suction and rinsing vehicle and is the reference vehicle in the compact class for various well-known bodybuilders.
In an emergency, every centimetre counts, which is why the Canter, as a particularly compact chassis, is predestined for the construction of special vehicles for the fire brigade. Especially as a 4×4 variant with switchable all-wheel drive, it offers everything a heavy truck can do – but it is light, agile and manoeuvrable. The Canter fulfils all standard requirements for fire engines, and specialised manufacturers for special vehicle superstructures can easily build fully equipped emergency and fire-fighting vehicles on it, tailor-made for help and rescue in narrow streets and alleys.
Having to get up high, but having no space – the everyday problem when using a cherry picker in the city. The Canter is the solution here as well, because with a short wheelbase and the narrow cab variant, it offers the most compact basis for mounting the climber. The dimensions of the Canter also allow the supports to be placed within the vehicle contour. As a Canter 3.5 T, the driver also does not need a truck driving licence.
Compact dimensions are also often required for the diverse transport tasks at an airport, in order to park particularly close to or even under the aircraft. The Canter is therefore ideal as a carrier for passenger stairs, suction and rinsing vehicle for on-board waste water, tanker for fresh water, dispenser and much more.
With a flatbed, drive-on ramps and winch, but also with a special body including lifting goggles, the Canter can be used as a compact and manoeuvrable tow truck.
Designed precisely for the Canter and the eCanter and built directly at the FUSO factory in Tramagal, Portugal, the Canter factory bodies are the best offer for customers who want to order their Canter ready-made from a single source.
